The intention for this design was to reclaim the driveway, maximising space. Space was left for one car to be parked to the front of the house. Two mirroring planting borders are used to welcome the homeowner. A sitting area has been situated to the front, catching the beautiful morning sun. Planting shields the living area from the road and the drive, creating a peaceful inlet to the front of the house. Who said front gardens couldn’t be fun and functional!
The unusual landscape to the rear of the house provided an interesting backdrop for this project. The kitchen has been extended out into the garden. The outdoor kitchen has been framed with a feature wall and pergola. Planting is used to break up the expanse of the patio. A birch tree, dappled foliage and ornamental grasses, which provide winter interest, create a distinction between the kitchen and living space. This gives the hardscape a softer impression.
The raised area, on a steep incline, is made accessible with a free-standing staircase and a slide! A quiet, sunken sitting area is surrounded by planting, creating a blissful escape, which enjoys the last of the evening sun.
